Hazing
Topic: Sororities and Fraternities
Essential Question: Should hazing be outlawed in the Sororities and Fraternities?
Claim: Hazing is a very dangerous and can end lives. It also has an effect on the Sorority or Fraternity and their image in the greek community.
Reason: Hazing gives Sororities and Fraternities a bad reputation. If someone that has been hazed or has heard that the sorority or fraternity has been hazing people reports it. Then word will get out and no one will want to rush that sorority or fraternity the next time they are offering places. With no members means no money. And with no money means that they will have to shut down because they will not be able to pay to stay there. So hazing has a major impact on a sororities and fraternities and their reputation with in the college.

Discussion Response #3
Do you think the girls will ever recover from the emotional scars that were caused by their past lovers?
Ellen, Diane, Karen, and Laurie have all had bad relationships in the past, but, has that affected their lives now and have they recovered from the pain? They have all stuck with each other till the end. They have listened to each other and have comforted each other in times of need. College has had a big impact on their love life and most of them got married to their boyfriends but ended up getting divorces. But has that affected their marriages now? They have to let go and look back on what they did wrong and try to find the reason for their problems and to solve them. “Never let go of hope. One day you will see that it all has finally come together. What you have always wished for has finally come to be. We will look back and laugh at what has passed and we will ask ourselves... 'How did I get through all of that?” (876) Diane is saying this because after Ellen passes away, the girls come together and have a funeral and reminisce about their times in college with Ellen. And all of the mistakes they made and that they wish they can go back and relive those special memories.

Discussion #4
Evaluate the relationships between the girls and how their friendship has evolved throughout the story?
In the novel Sorority Sisters by Claudia Welch, Karen, Diane, Ellen, and Laurie have all changed and became good friends throughout the book. Somehow, they've come together and all have a reason for joining the Beta Pi sorority. Karen is being forced to join by her mom to make new friends. Diane wants to do something with her life. Ellen is trying to piss off her dad, and Laurie is trying to find her true love. By joining the Beta Pi's and meeting each other, they have all helped one another with their problems which has made their friendship and trust stronger. When they first met they were making up stories about each other before they knew anyone. But once they started to talk they all became great friends. They all have the same classes, stick together during parties, and they all stand up for each other if another girl is in trouble. Like when they find out that the guy Laurie is in love with was dating another girl when they were dating, they didn't let that one slide. They went straight up to him and confronted him about the situation and said "Either you can be with her and dump barbie over there, or, you can never have a chance at a girl like this ever again."(358) They were sticking up for Laurie and that is what true friends do. And when Karens mom wants to meet her new friends, they all make a good impression because they know that Karen really wants to make her mom happy. They more things they go though together, the more powerful the bond becomes between these girls. This is what true friendship really is.
