Will joining a Sorority or Fraternity increase your chances of making friends?

Sorority Sisters by: Claudia Welch
Different fraternities and sororities
People who join a Sorority/Fraternity will end up with more friends than people that are not in a sorority or fraternity. This is also arguable because you can also not be in a sorority or fraternity and you could have the same amount of friends as someone who does. So if you do join a sorority/fraternity you will make friends a lot easier and will also have a greater chance. In the book Sorority Sisters by Claudia Welch, Karen is new to the whole sorority thing, but, shes only doing it because her mom wants her to have more friends. So if she joins a sorority she will have a greater chance of making new friends. "I wouldn't mind having more friends, but is joining a sorority the way to do that? My mother thinks so." (16) This theory has worked. Karen has more friends now than she did freshman year. So by joining the sorority, Karen is living with other girls that she will see all day and every day and will eventually become friends with them. Also going to events that other Sororities and Fraternities are hosting will also expand her chances of meeting new people.
